About the Author

Lurline Wailana McGregor grew up in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, in a community that reflected her own multi-cultural background, attending Punahou School from kindergarten through twelfth grade. After college, she spent several years on the continent, including a period working with the Senate Indian Affairs Committee in Washington, D.C., before returning home. Her debut novel, Between the Deep Blue Sea and Me, won the American Indian Library Association’s 2010 Best Young Adult Fiction award. This is her second novel. Beyond writing, her career and accomplishments have been wide-ranging, but most of the trophies on her shelf are for outrigger canoe paddling.
