Abstract
This article describes Hawaiian research that utilizes hei (string figures) as the media of recovery. The narrative aligns Indigenous methodologies with a more Hawaiian way of conducting research by connecting mo‘okū‘auhau (genealogy), mo‘olelo (stories), and mele (chants) of the author’s kūpuna (ancestors).
